    Now in its 17th year, City of Water Day is a region-wide day of free, family-friendly events on or near the water, organized by Waterfront Alliance and New York–New Jersey Harbor & Estuary Program (HEP), to champion a climate-resilient New York and New Jersey harbor. Join the Dredgers at "mussel beach" with the Gowanus Canal Conservancy or take a curated musical self-guided tour, in collaboration with Unheard-of//Ensemble. Or both!

    Join Unheard-of Ensemble and the Gowanus Dredgers for an expanded version of Ginger Flavored Bubblegum. The work explores transcendence from grief by honoring poet, filmmaker, and artist Theresa Hak Kyung Cha - who was murdered only a few days after the publication of her poetic autobiography, "Dictee." Using selections of poetry from Dictee, this expanded version explores grief using Unheard-of Ensemble, electronics, and videography by Phong Tran (who some might recognize from his electronic set last season).

This performance takes place during climate week NYC!

  • Cultural Ecologies Series 2026: Pop-Up 1 – Ebb and Flow

    Our clarinetist Ford and music technologist/composer Brian Ellis are presenting a site-specific pop-up on June 27th 8PM at the 2nd Street Dock performed from canoes, tracing the flow of the Gowanus Canal from the Flushing Tunnel to the 2nd Street Boathouse. This opening pop-up titled Ebb and Flow is a limited seat event that is the first of smaller pop-up experiences bringing people together for on the water musical journeys. Iva will present a short set for the opening night.
